Thorbahn Named Holstein Foundation Trustee

Brattleboro, Vt. (February 25, 2010)…The Holstein Foundation is pleased to announce a new addition to their board of trustees. Tom Thorbahn of Vickery, Ohio has joined the board, which oversees the direction of the Holstein Foundation's youth and young adult educational and leadership development programs.

"I am very excited and pleased to serve on the Holstein Foundation board of trustees," said Thorbahn. "The Foundation provides so many great opportunities for the youth and young leaders of our industry.  By training the brightest and the best leaders for tomorrow, the future of the dairy industry will be in great hands."

Thorbahn has been involved with the dairy industry his entire life. He farmed in partnership with his father and brother for over thirty years, breeding Holstein cattle under the Crimson-Lane prefix. He has been extremely involved as a life-long member of Holstein Association USA, most recently serving on the board of directors from 2003 to 2009, and has been a long-time supporter of the Holstein Foundation. As a Holstein Association USA director, Tom served on the Genetic Advancement and Executive committees and was the board liaison to the Junior Advisory committee.

Thorbahn served as a 4-H youth leader in Ohio for over 20 years, and has been on both the Sandusky County and Ohio State Extension Advisory Committees. In 2005, he received The Ohio State University Department of Dairy Science Hall of Service Award. Aside from dairy activities, Tom is an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he has been involved in numerous capacities.
