5th ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM ON MILK GENOMICS & HUMAN HEALTH HEADS DOWN UNDER
2008 Symposium To Be Held October14-16th In Australia

 
Davis, Calif. – June 11, 2008 – International experts in nutrition, genomics, bioinformatics and milk research will gather in Sydney, Australia October 14-16th for the 5th International Symposium on Milk Genomics and Human Health.

Organized by the California Dairy Research Foundation (CDRF), the three-day event will be held at the Amora Hotel Jamison in Sydney. Sessions will focus on the bovine genome, evolution across genomes, lipids as the next beneficiary of genomics, milk research from down under as well as updates from researchers throughout the world and the International Milk Genomics Consortium (IMGC). A complete speaker program will be announced in late June/early July.

Symposium registration is $450 through August 15, 2008 and $500 thereafter and includes all program materials and daytime meals as well as a Wednesday evening reception. Sponsoring members of the International Milk Genomics Consortium can register at the rate of $400 through August 15, 2008 and $450 thereafter. Student rates also are available. Since the inaugural Milk Genomics Symposium in 2004, the event has attracted researchers from more than 24 countries to discuss current and future genomic research of mammalian milk and its related health benefits and led to the development of the IMGC, a partnership of companies and academic organizations. The IMGC goals are to leverage existing resources for the assembly of genetic instructions for milk molecules, link the scientific community for better understanding of the biological values of milk, create tools for an interactive, Web data exchange, coordinate pre-competitive research to develop baseline data, and provide a foundation for the development of exclusive/competitive research.
