Re: NEW ARLINGTON DAIRY FACILITY TO BE DEDICATED JULY 30
UW-Madison’s newest dairy facility will be formally opened on Wednesday, July 30, at the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences’ Arlington Research Station. Members of the media are invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in the facility’s milking center, located at W6723 Badger Lane in Arlington. A public program will follow at 10 a.m. in the research station’s Public Events Building, including refreshments and tours of the new facility.
Constructed at cost of $5.1 million, the new 500-cow facility gives dairy scientists the tools and space they need to address the problems most relevant to Wisconsin’s dairy industry. During the 9:30 ribbon cutting, campus and state officials will be available for questions. The program participants include:
- Molly Jahn, Dean, UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences
- Al Ott, State Representative of 3rd Assembly District, Chair, Assembly Committee on Agriculture
- Randy Romanski, Deputy Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection
- Ric Grummer, Chair, UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science
- Alan Fish, UW-Madison Associate Vice Chancellor, Facilities Planning and Management
The Arlington Research Station is located 20 miles north of Madison, one quarter mile west of State Hwy. 51, at N695 Hopkins Road.
